It's a messy situation but I feel trans bathrooms, despite further alienating trans students from their classmates, is the safest route possible at this time.

What would he the point in separating bathrooms for genders anyway? I've been in unisex bathrooms before and they're nasty.
If you classify as a male go in the MENS restroom. If you classify as a female then go in the WOMENS restroom.
A transgender bathroom would lead to pedifiles, perverts and people like me that would go in expecting a cleaner bathroom and taking a dump.

She's not necessarily asking for "trans restrooms", she is asking for gender neutral restrooms. Singular person gender neutral restrooms are a thing that will continue to pop up over time, but not fast enough.

Same here. I've never really thought about this issue before, but it is a problem indeed. I do think it might affect trans people psychologically as well as it makes them feel more accepted in society probably.
