I mean, it's not THAT big of a deal tbh. Her CFDA award and countless magazine covers are more impressive in my opinion, but Dior has a prestige and legacy most brands can only dream of. Actually, it is a pretty big deal.

But it's almost transparent how Rihanna is pandering to the Asian market. Christian Dior is a HUGE brand in the luxury market there right now (approx. 1/3 of Dior's sales are in Asia), and multiple magazine covers with major magazines is definitely gonna help to boost her profile there. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a Vogue Japan cover in the coming months.

In the sense, that they barely have featured black people on their ads, campaigns, runaways. And they have tried to keep the criticism away. There are two Dior branches the RTW, which is more diverse, but the haute couture is basically a cult following of old rich white ladies. So, yeah that's a good step and Rihanna taking the role opens a new era.
