The era was terrible, the visuals outside of the videos were lackluster at best after October (and some atrocities - like the Venus looks - before then) and the overall promotion was one of the most disastrous campaigns in the history of pop music. And yes, the artwork wasn't the best but I actually find it beautiful now.
And yes, as an album experience, Born This Way > ARTPOP. But as a collection of songs, ARTPOP rules them all. Well, TFM does but honestly it doesn't feel like an album to me since it's so damn short. ARTPOP has her best songs, best production and best ideas. These weren't always executed well or followed up and developed in the way they should but saying Do What U Want, Sexxx Dreams, Applause, G.U.Y., Aura, ARTPOP, Gypsy, hell, even Swine aren't her best and/or most creative works so far is just ignorant. I'm not discouraging the incredible work she did prior, many songs from the first 3 trump songs I've just listed, but they grew old.
I stand by my opinion, and trust me it took a lot to change it. But seeing ARTPOP now, without the era and it's consequences baring down on us... It'll grow on you. Trust me. And if it doesn't then you're missing out.

We're basically agreeing but I'm not that gullible and delusional to think that ARTPOP is that good.
It doesn't deserve such an essay of a post.
It's horrible.
But I'll still use it every now and then.

The real kiii is that a good 98% of the forum praised ARTPOP to the high heavens when it leaked, yet now, not even 25% of her own fans seem to like it. This is why I'm convinced and concerned that the opinions and views of the majority of people on this site are influenced by charts and success. It's one thing to dislike something - that's simply a matter of opinion, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. However, turning so swiftly from admiration to total dislike of something just because of how others (in this case, the GP) react to it is, well, a bit crigeworthy and very petty in my opinion. It's also a bit frightening when you consider that your own opinion of something must be validated through the positive opinions and reactions of others, which is what this behavior showcases. This isn't to say that every single person that dislikes ARTPOP is like this, but again, it's telling when so many people that loved it upon first listen turn against it so quickly and harshly come the sales numbers.

All of this. And I admit to it myself, when ARTPOP came out (sorry, this will get deep) I was so insecure in myself, I wanted everyone to like me, I was in love with someone who could never feel the same and many members of my family had fallen seriously ill - I had become dependent on Gaga and others opinions on her to validate my self-worth. So when everything Gaga-related came crashing down, I started lashing out on her and rejecting anything and everything ARTPOP (sans DWUW and new material like Act II).
Now I feel a lot better in myself, and while the problems before are still there, I'm a lot more confident and strong in dealing with them. I don't associate ARTPOP with any of those things anymore, nor do I associate it with the messy campaign.
It truly is Gaga in an album. I said that about Born This Way, and while it's true, it seems to me like BTW was for the fans and ARTPOP was for Gaga's benefit - and it's true. It's a beautiful piece of work and I hope someday everyone in here truly sees the beauty in it.
LG5 will top everything though, quality-wise. I'm sure of it.

artpop is not bad, it's the best album of 2013 along with self-titled, the best fully edm-driven album by a pop star, the production is better than btw but the general themes of btw are just better

ARTPOP is a great album
Applause, DWUW, G.U.Y. and Venus are highlights in her discography

is it weird that I do not have a fave album? I mean they all have their own things that reflect Gaga as an artist and person.
The only thing that I do feel is that you notice her evolve from the Fame to ARTPOP which is a great trip if you play like 5 songs from each album back to back.

But you're lying to yourself if you don't think ARTPOP is her best honestly. And anyway, she already said that if you love ARTPOP then you're more similar to her than anyone, so I'm chill.

I haven't listened to ARTPOP in a long time but anyone pretending like Applause, Sexxx Dreams, Gypsy, MJH, and a few others are not some of her best songs are just deluding themselves.

Ironically, all of these petitions are doing nothing but making her not want to release the song even more. Diane's thirst for attention as opposed to raising awareness is supposedly pissing her off.
I just hope if and when the movie is put onto DVD, the full version of the song is featured.

The demo is trash. The final version is trash. That "Hahahahaha" part is unnecessary & just, ew. Imagine if you were not a Gaga fan and you'd casually decide to give Artpop a try. You start with Aura, the first song. Then you hear this mess I'd stop tbh
The chorus, however, is amazing. Otherwise, no. Just, no.

'Aura' is amazing.
But Tanguy, you're not lying when you say it would turn anyone off from listening to the album.

I was playing with the Google Trends and I found out that Gaga was the most searched among her peers in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and in 2012 she was 2nd behind Rihanna but she didn't have any music back then and in 2013 she was in the same LANE as Katy...
and the trolls in here say she was over since 2011

I actually like Aura, specially the second verse where she goes 'Enigma popstar is fun, she wear burqa for fashion'.
I bopped to every single track on ARTPOP and I bopped to each one of them for a long time and then I get bored and move to the other but now I haven't listened to ARTPOP in FULL for a long time
