They are both pop albums to be honest... just of a slightly different edition/format. Isnt it still pop music? Let It Go is a pop song. So are Christmas songs, theyre just seasonal.

It's just that Born This Way was a huge underperformance until the moment (in 2013) when everyone realized that actually NO album since it by a pop artist had outsold it and then everyone started appreciating Born This Way.

Anyway this thread was about 1989 being the only album by a pop artist to outsell BTW, which was considered a huge underperformance for Gaga.

An album can't ship only 6.2M copies from May 24th till December 31st, when it had sold 2M in its first week and 5M in its first 4 months (by the 3rd week of September as provided by official receipts in this thread) /end.

All the specifics needed to make this seem like some kind of important achievement.

By the way, Micheal Buble's Christmas and Frozen which are both pop albums outsold Born This Way since then.

Just because one is a Christmas album and one is a soundtrack doesn't mean they aren't pop.
