1989 - The first/only album after BTW to outsell it :clap3:
Let's all congratulate Taylor on that achievement (and lowkey praise Gaga's best album)
1989 is the only album released after Born This Way (May 24th, 2011) to outsell it.
Other albums that came very close to Born This Way include - Taylor Swift's own RED, P!nk's TTAL and Bruno Mars' second albermnt - UJ.
Edit: POP Studio Album, ain't nobody got time for Frozen.

Billboard themselves confirmed that it sold 8,000,000 worldwide. There's nothing to think about it when we have the facts as confirmed by an official music charts and sales corporation.
Congrats to Taylor though!

UNorthodox jukebox sold 6.3m like btw
Red sold 6.2m and so did TD
Although it's still charting and may soon make a trinity
According to mediatraffic all actual sales for all albums are higher
Although this OP is inaccurate As both frozen and bube Christmas album destroyed all 3

oh I don't think so, if it was about my own opinion, no one surpassed Born This way after its release
It's about receipts of course. Several sources like BB and UMG have BTW at over 8M WW, The only unnoficial source - mediatraffic has BTW at 6.3M but that's old tea since BTW sold 6.2M in 2011 alone according to IFPI - the only official source for WW sales, so yeah considering in 2012 it sold 300k in the USA alone and more than 300k in Japan alone, we can clearly conclude the album is over 7M by now.

TD is completely irrelevant to the discussion since it was released in 2010.
And Mediatraffic is unreliable. It can be more reliable to one artist than other, heres why. Lady Gaga sells the most albums in Asia out of all her peers and it's unfair since so many countries from Asia are not counted towards Mediatraffic. Lady Gaga had number 1 songs in Taiwan etc. (not even singles, Bloody Mary was number 1 in Taiwan or Thailand I am not sure) so yeah...
As for Frozen and Christmas, i meant Pop album so Imma go fix that, no one gives a **** about Frozen outselling BTW because of a blockbuster movie, neither Buble's christmas album

It's a good indicator although it underestimates sales
But it backs up your statement, so I was using it as proof in case any other stay bases were trying it.

Michael Buble
Frozen
Taylor Swift (twice)
Bruno Mars
21 (it sold more than 8 million since then )
do i need to go on? using shipments is stupid, i could easily say teenage dream and 21 are the only albums that sold more than 10 million this decade

yeah of course, it's the only source that provides WW receipts throughout the year, but still check my edited post, some artists's sales are being more underestimated than others, because for example if you sell a lot of albums in Asia you are screwed by Mediatraffic, cuz it counts only a few countries from Asia, whereas Gaga during BTW had Stadium shows all over Asia + songs like Bloody Mary topped OFFICIAL charts in Taiwan, Thailand etc. Huge portion of BTW's sales come from Asia, hence why everyone from UMG to BB says BTW is at 8M+, while IFPI said 6.2M only for 2011... I think Billboard also had Born This Way at 6.2M in 2011 (they reported IFPI's receipts).
Edit: this is when Bloody Mary topped official top 40 chart in Taiwan http://atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?t=132556

The OP was referring to albums released since Born This Way, which would invalidate Teenage Dream and 21 from the discussion. Also, he clarified a few posts up that he was referring to pop albums, which also eliminates Frozen and Bublé's Christmas album. Bruno hasn't quite reached 8 million, nor has Red. That leaves only 1989, which has. That being said, all the albums mentioned have sold incredibly well.

Frozen - Not a POP album.
RED sold less than BTW according to EVERY source, from the unofficial source - Mediatraffic, to the official sources Billboard, UMG and IFPI.
Bruno Mars sold less according to every source from Mediatraffic to IFPI.
21 was released in February 2011 .
As for Teenage Dream, there is one cute story about it. One hot and sunny day in August 2010, Teenage Dream was released. August is the 8th month of the year 2010, which is a time that happened PRIOR to Born This Way's release which was in May 2011. Furthermore Teneage Dream was promoted for 5 years with 3 Grammy Performances, 1 Superbowl performance, countless TV appearances, A RE RELEASE, 8 singles, just so it can cross 6M WW, which is LESS than what Born This Way sold in its first full year alone May 2011 - May 2012.
So in short, TD was completely irrelevant to the discussion.
