It's weird because in 1985 sales of 12" singles counted towards Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Chart (by another name at that time), but not the Hot 100.
Therefore, "Into The Groove" actually peaked at #19 on Billboard's R&B Chart, aided by both sales and airplay, but was ineligible for the Hot 100 because it had no 7" single available.
