IA, those acts are more alternative or "tumblrcore."

Also the way Green Day faded is just creepy. I actually enjoyed them, I usually prefer alternative to active rock which like country can be pretty repetitive. So yeah no Aerosmiths, Niravanas or Foo Fighters for me but yes to Foster The People, Cage The Elephant and The Arctic Monkeys.

They didn't fade at the start of Uno, dos, tre era, BJ had a total meltdown then got sober, Mike's wife was diagnosed breast cancer, Jason's wife diagnosed cancer and Tre got married.

I blame Linkin Park for diversifying the sound (which is good imo but still)

I forgot about HAIM.
And according to Wikipedia, they're rock -

And yes, Florence is rock IMO, and Wikipedia agrees.

The only reason I said Lorde was a half joke, considering she won best rock song for Royals at the VMAs and the Billboard Awards

They haven’t been big forces this decade though, good album sales obviously, but it’s not like they have songs that everyone knows and will have the potential to become classics
Compared to the last decade, Linkin Park, Green Day, The Killers, Foo Fighters, Evanescence, Blink-182, Nickelback, Lifehouse, Simple Plan, ect all actually had chart impact singles wise, and had some sort of consistency similar to ‘pop girls'
I think the main thing is that “hard rock” doesn’t smash anymore like it used to. There have been songs like Lonely Boy which were big, but there hasn’t been much else that has been as impacting. Imagine Dragons and possible Fun could be considered since they're still technically rock, but they’re not on the same level as the above artists. It’s just that radio most likely aren’t going to play ‘guitar-driven’ songs since they’re not as radio friendly anymore, and instead i guess rock bands focus more on album sales and touring nowadays

They are still here and doing pretty well. They are just not as easily accessible as before.

Besides Arcade Fire and Black Keys those bands aren't burning up the charts.
The last real band that was rock that did so was Green Day. There has not been a band since that is a household name, that teens and young adults go crazy for. And are selling out arenas since like Green Day.
Linkin Park went downhill and so have Nickleback. Besides them the other bands are bland Ac stuff.

1. The band releases a single (usually without an adds date or promotional performance).
2. The song (obviously) flops cause mainstream radio just won't touch it so the band gets no budget for a decent video.
3. The band releases the album to mediocre sales below the 50k mark.
4. The band attempts to release a second single but it's either too late or just pointless given the fact that most of the people who actually care about them have already listened to the album. If lucky it would get a cheap/live video.
5. The band goes on tour and further promotion is either scrapped or forgotten.
No wonder all the bands are doomed. Unless you're Maroon 5, Coldplay or Fall Out Boy which obviously do not count as rock bands.

Um "rock bands"
Well, Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, Royal Blood, All That Remains, 30 Seconds to Mars, Foo Fighters, The Offspring, Swans, Cage The Elephant, J Roddy Walston & The Business.. Um they are all active right now.
Rock artists: Jack White and Benjamin Booker
Those do not contain the indie pop bands we have right now.
Rock is alive and well. Limited but very alive.

What the **** is this bull****?!!?
Firstly, how are bands like Nirvana or Guns N Roses or Aerosmith etc. late 90s/early 00s?
How the actual **** can you say that all those bands have a similar sound? Have you ever listened to them? I doubt it really. That is just utterly embarrassing statement.
Or the fact you declared something as derivative and repetitive as Linkin Park responsible for diversifying the sound... like really, you have to be kidding at this point

Well it's a good question. Rock is obviously not really hype right now, and this, for a few years now.
Arctic Monkeys are there since 2006, they're not new at all. Same for Kasabian, etc...
There's not a new band that make rock exciting and fresh and cool again (like The Strokes and The Libertines did in 2001/2002) but I'm sure that will happen eventually in 2 or 3 years. "Rock'n' roll never dies" like Neil Young said, so I'm waiting

The golden age were the 70s and the 90s with some nice surprise in the 00s (Placebo, Bloc Party, Queen of The Stone Age, Band of Horses, The Libertines, Jet). Even Linkin Park was releasing masterpieces such as "Faint"! I listened to a Black Keys album to see if it could compare, and although it was nice, it was too repetitive and didn't have the melodies or the charm of the bands I used to love.
I will gladly change my mind if anyone have GREAT 2010s rock songs to share!
