P!nk's Greatest Hits... So Far! spawned two huge hits (#1 and #2) while selling over one million copies in the US (I don't have WW receipts so don't come in here and try to drag) despite being pregnant and not being able to promote as much. It's probably one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) GH era in recent memory.
Why do you think it was well received by the GP? Discuss.
Supported by 2 big smashes & coming off a breakthrough era for P!nk (Funhouse). She's also just naturally a great album seller, so when you put all of her hits together like that it's bound to attract her loyal, global fanbase.
Because it's P!nk. She didn't have to worry about making an entire album, so she put her best foot forward with the three new songs. She could have even released Heartbreak Down as the third single and it'd have gone Top 10.
well, firstly it was a great collection of timeless songs that the GP knew or at least "heard of". it also showed pink's diversity musically and lyrically. the DVD with her videography was a nice way to also share how she is one of the few artists that really have videos that standout.
raise your glass and ****ing perfect were nice moves on her part. she has always been known to write about and stand up for the underdog, and with other artists following suit, her songs may have found more interest from different fan bases.
the pregnancy may have made her also a bit more "accessible" to the GP.
Over 1 million domestically, 3 million worldwide. An inch away from being the first greatest hits package in history to have two #1 singles.
It was huge because all of the songs on it are certified hits. They may not all be #1s but people remember them. They're also constantly introduced or reintroduced to them thanks to the amazing recurrent radio play P!nk gets for her older songs.
So you take classic hits, two new hit songs, a pregnancy announcement which garnered a lot of headlines and you have a successful era.
