I'm watching a vlog from one of my favourite YouTubers right now, and she burned her hand by accident and has her hand in a bowl of vinegar with tears rolling down her eyes. They (her husband and her) were discussing that they had to find a home remedy because they couldn't afford to go to the ER, and it broke my heart. Every time I hear about stories like this from America, it really gets me thinking about how sad it is that people have to live like that. Like, it's honestly mind boggling to me that people can get injured, and won't be able to get immediate assistance because their
finances don't allow it.
In Canada, we can just simply walk into a hospital, get a ticket, see a doctor and get whatever is wrong fixed, and then leave, never to think about the incident again. There was an incident in Grade 7 when I accidentally cut a part of my finger off with a pair of scissors in-class. I can't fathom the idea that if I was in America, my mom would have had to consider whether or not an emergency like that would be worth the hospital bills, or if she should just try and bandage it herself.
I really am blessed to live in this country, where healthcare is such a priority for the government, and easily accessible to the GP.
Have any Americans in RT ever had an incident where they couldn't get immediately taken care of because of doctor bills?
