Personally, I don't see the point, and my friends split it fifty/fifty. All my friends who say they don't want to show anything though are stupid because the water clings to their underwear and highlights everything. For some reason they never notice that.

You don't wear lose underwear in the pool, it's usually trunks or something elasticated.

The same reason we wear it when we're not swimming. To stop your baggage being lose, and to stop your privates getting irritated rubbing against material that is less than kind. The netting inside some swimwear is next to useless. Your privates are still floating around in the area, and walking around means your dick is constantly rubbing against a rough material.

Everyone in Australia does it, basically. I live at the beach, and we jump in the beach, and then go and look around the shops and stuff (we towel dry obvs).

In a lot of other countries I notice people get changed into swimwear, and then out of it before they leave the pool or beach. Where I live, people just throw a towel around them, or walk around drying off. Much more casual.
