The album singles should have some creative order/progression tho. Like, idec how much more the era would've smashed with "Do What U Want"/"Gypsy" as the lead single, they just wouldn't have fit musically/aesthetically, and for a long term (5-7) single era, it would've been awkward to have the first 3 singles be the 3 biggest hits. If that happened, the era would've been just as long as it was in reality.
I mean, hopefully this era, we have more single choices with "Do What U Want"/"Gypsy"/"Applause"-type hit potential than single choices with "Venus"/"G.U.Y."/"Aura"-type potential, but the latter isn't the most horrible thing that could happen.

The lead single will obviously be very important for her as it'll introduce her new sound/style/approach as well as the concept, but I also think it should be remembered that singles are ultimately promo for the album...and they should be releasing the songs that will peak interest best. Even if the narrative/concept is compromised.
It's especially important considering her current position. She does need hits to bounce back and be validated in some people's eyes.

I'm assuming this is just fan speculation...but is there any reason to believe she could be asked? Are there any rumours about anyone yet?

I'm expecting some sort of pop/rock meets disco/funk. Definitely throwback.
I'd be really surprised if she goes for an album full of singer/songwriter-y stuff. She loves uptempo energy, even if there aren't synths.
