If you're into soap operas and stuff like Desperate Housewives, Empire is not hard to get into.

The keyboards on Control are the most '80s thing ever after the Flock of Seagulls haircut. The songs are great, but the production is so bloody tacky.

Rhythm Nation is good, but is so over-earnest it's difficult to take any of it seriously. It ends up sounding cheesy instead of moving, not aided by the production either.

janet. and The Velvet Rope are her only legitimately great albums, and even then they're both marred by the interludes, some stilted songwriting and more tacky production.

Everything she did before and after those records is absolute trash.

Just watch the first season of the Leftovers and HTGAWM and you'll notice the difference.

Also, leave Rihanna alone. She has changed lanes so many times in her career and is still on top. No one else is doing it.

True Blue is the most generic pop album I have ever heard in my life, and I've listened to Prism, Britney's first two albums, parts Carly Rae's Kiss and parts of 1D's first album.
