Atlanta was a hub for a lot of popular R&B and hip hop acts in the 1990s-mid 2000s. LaFace was headquartered there. Whitney Houston relocated there. Many big acts like Outkast, TLC, Usher, Jermaine Dupri (working with Mariah since Daydream era), Lil Jon, T.I., Monica, Ludacris, Ciara. A lot of urban artists who were slaying the Hot 100 for a while.

Mississippi has its racist history. But people acknowledge it. It was one of the first states where Blues started. Its very rural. But they have a few gems like Jackson, Meridian and Oxford. Biloxi is where people go gamble, almost like a southern Atlantic City.

Shreveport, Louisiana seems like a very underrated gem too.

Most people I know solely go to Florida in the southeast, and just for the sun or Disney world. I personally prefer the Southwestern US.

I currently live in Alabama. The southeast is definitely one of the most beautiful parts of the USA. It feels like home to me. There are a lot of hidden gems and certainly a lot of history.
