A statement on the university website, which is attributed to York president Mamdouh Shoukri, indicates that a labour disruption is in effect as of Tuesday.

"The strike is unfortunate. It impacts the entire York community, particularly our students. I know that students and their parents are very concerned — I share their concerns," Shoukri says in the statement.

Shoukri says the labour disruption involves CUPE Local 3903, which represents nearly 3,700 teaching assistants, contract faculty, graduate assistants and research assistants.

"To provide clarity to our students for the duration of the strike, we have regrettably suspended classes, with limited exceptions," Shoukri says.

"However, all York facilities, including libraries, residences, computer labs, cafeterias, athletic facilities and offices will remain open during their usual operating hours."

I JUST WANT TO GRADUATE! WHY DO I HAVE TO GET CAUGHT IN ALL OF THESE!

Sorry for ranting, I am JUST SUPER WORRIED ABOUT MY OWN EDUCATION ATM.

This will definitely impact my academic timeline because:

1. I'm doing 2 degrees simultaneously
2. By the time this strike is over, I would have been ON my other degree, so I wouldn't have room,not a single room for time to be FORCED to continue the classes I'm taking right now.
3. I'm in SO MUCH debt, I just NEED to graduate ASAP so I can work and pay it OFF.
4. I don't know how I'll be able to get my credit for these courses I'm taking since there is a month left of school!

But why are you mad? You have no school... Or are the U of T rumors true (if you go there, ofc).

I'm mad because I won't have school. I'm doing 2 degrees simultaneously at the moment. So when strike is over, I will be forced to continue where we left off, but by the time that happens, I'd already be doing my other degree, so there is no room for error. At least for me.

And I'm currently taking two electives right now which are super important for my credits. But since there is a strike, and classes are suspended, we don't know how we'll be able to get our credits. Some electives, we haven't even have a recorded grade yet.

Smh. I expect this from York but u of t. Smh. I'm going back for summer classes. I wonder how this will affect me and more importantly people who are graduating in June.
