Some bits from Noel's interview for Vogue... In fine form as always
Quote:
Q: Aside from parties, what sort of relationship do you have with the fashion world these days? I know you and your brother Liam used to move in those circles during the Oasis years [most famously with Kate Moss], and Liam has since started up his own clothing line, Pretty Green [which sells mod-inspired looks].
A: The thing that differs between me and my ****ing . . . uh, brother is that he was always obsessed with looking good, and I’m continually obsessed with being good. As long as the music’s good, nobody cares about what you ****ing wear. D’you know what I mean? If your songs are OK, then your songs will seem better if you look good—like those ****wits from Maroon 5. The tattoos take your mind off the fact that they’re ****. OK? Right? But with Oasis, it was “God those ****in’ songs are great.” It’s all about the music.
[...]
Q: There’s no stage patter, not a lot of performance [...]. I’m guessing it’s because you want to let the songs speak for themselves.
A: Because it’s beneath me. Stagecraft is beneath me. That guy from Maroon 5—he needs stagecraft.
On Madonna:
Quote:
Q: Did she have a doctor with her to attend to her bruises? [Two nights earlier, Madonna had taken a nasty fall during her performance at London’s Brit Awards.]
A: No—I think it was just her ego that was bruised. I’m not sure she was bashed up all that bad. She was nice though. My wife is a superfan—my wife honestly thinks that she is one of the greatest human beings that has ever lived.
Q: And you don’t?
A: [An almost apocalyptic silence follows my question, until Gallagher finally responds diplomatically:] She’s nice. She’s nice. She’s very nice.
On Kanye West:
Quote:
Q: Your brother Liam tweeted, about the show: “Kanye West. Utter ****.” Do you share his opinion?
A: I like him because I think he’s very very entertaining. I like his interviews—they’re nearly as good as mine—and I liked the look of [his Brits performance]. I think it’s best listened to with the sound down, though. I do like “Black Skinhead”—I think that track is amazing—and I do like him because I think he’s slightly otherworldly, but I wouldn’t say I’m a super fan of his music.
On his brother Liam:
Quote:
Q: What’s the nicest thing you could say about Liam? What’s his best quality?
A: He always remains true to himself at all times. I admire people who just truly don’t give a ****. He has that freedom, and that’s a good thing, I think. There’s a little bit of that in me, but there’s another side that actually gives a ****, which kind of slows you down in a way. Liam’s a wrecking ball, and we all wish we were like that sometimes. Only for a day though—you can’t live your life like that.
Right, and now with his solo stuff he needs to call out every artist and their mothers for attention.
Where have you been tho ? He's been like that since day one with Oasis... What he says now is nothing compared to what he said back in the 90's
I don't think he's desperate for attention tbh, his album (it's been released today) is already #1 on iTunes in the UK
The gallagher brothers dont say things for attention. They're just opinionated and always have been. Pretty sure Adam is an Oasis fan so he may be hurt by this. But Maroon5 are more of a pop band than a Rock band. I dont think they get much respect in Rock circles.
Noel is spot on, especially about Liam, I love their "I dont give a" attitude
Maroon 5 are just another version of Jonas Brothers. They call themselves a rock band but they truly just make crap pop music for the Disney channel audience
M5's music is ****, they're all into image now. When you compare them now, to their debut they went downhill quick. I used to be a fan, but I can't even stand them. I don't even bother to play their music, and Adam is such a douchbag.
