Celeb News: Azealia: 'There needs to be a new black political party'

"Everyone's always saying, 'You're always ranting, you're always talking about politics. You should put it in your music'," she said. "[But] music is how I escape from everything else.

"It's discouraging to see young black men getting shot down in the street just for being black outside. It makes you angry because you feel powerless and you feel helpless."

She continued by saying that she thinks hip-hop and rap music have helped black people to "feel good".

"I just feel like for centuries and centuries and centuries, black people have been painted to be these animals and just be these crazy people when we are really not," she said.

"And I feel like all of the things like hip-hop - these are the things we have created for ourselves in the face of all of the adversity. We've created these things for ourselves and they are ours. And they make us feel good."

The 212 rapper added that she thinks a new political party should be created and that she would consider becoming involved in it.

"I think there needs to be some new political party, some new black political party," she said. "Even if they don't run for office, they just need to be like this trusted board of members."

When asked if she would consider running for office herself, she said: "Maybe. Yeah, I think I would. I think I could do it."

Yes, because she's trying so hard to break that stereotype.

She's definitely right though, and she's got a good heart for the most part, but it doesn't translate to her actions.

She's right. Something that reaches out to the younger generation. These Black artists are not doing their part. Only Azealia, and a few indie rappers.

Sometimes I wonder if she's a rapper or an activist for human rights because that's all she talk about, hopefully not the latter because the rants on twitter don't help at all.

I'd support ha if I was a US citizen. If she makes clear objectives she wants to aim for and composes her in a manner that would make others listen then she could truly work on making a stand. I'm here for KUNT political party, no but seriously she should try it out.

She's aware and well knowledged, she just needs to work on delivery. Some of the things she says is the absolute bitter truth and at the moment she seems to be the only one making a topic about it, if she can raise these issues to GP as a whole, I can't see it being a bad thing.

Run for president Azealia, you're only 23, you have many years to work towards it.

The segregation needs to stop. What we need are more black leaders, period. We need more black men and women in Congress and in law. Period. We need more POC in general in high leadership positions.
