Kelly's latest album, Piece By Piece dropped with Greg Kurstin as the lead producer and its sound was nothing new to the table. Kelly stated that the label wanted to release Heartbeat Song as the first single even if it was bound to underperform, while songs like Bad Reputation, only made it to the deluxe side. P!nk also confessed last year, when she had to form a new duo to release her folk record, that the label doesn't let her release ballads as singles, despite the Jeff Bharker produced Just Give Me A Reason, a midtempo ballad became a worldwide hit. And there's also Christina Aguilera's Lotus, Shakira's self titled or Kesha's Warrior which albums didn't turn out the label and artists want them to.
Why is RCA so afraid and why do they play it too safe?
