I'd agree with this.
Also the poll is sorta problematic. The OP seems to assume childishness is inherently a bad thing and that, if Katy's indeed "childish," she needs to "fix" it. Childishness and immaturity can be great, especially in pop. I'd much rather have someone like Katy with her pretenselessness than the likes of Sam Smith and Taylor Swift who clearly take themselves so seriously it hurts. Katy's fun. I can't say as much for said peers.

People in here confusing being mature with being weird and vulgar.

But you can clearly say which demographics she is trying to impact. Prism - Roar, Birthday, Dark Horse, TIHWD - originally neutral songs or even sexy were marketed as something terribly cheesy and childish with their videos, performances and promo stuff.

But this thread isn't about how it was marketed, it's about the music.

General public likes cheesy childish things. Why are you even arguing with me after Birthday video, which was something she WANTED to do so bad and she wasnt forced !

Imagery, yes.
Musically, debatable. Some confuse generic and easily accessible to childish, and that's just not true. When she sings things like "epic fail" in a teen-driven song, then yes, that's childish. Her whole discography isn't like this, though.

OOTB and PRISM? Definitely not.
Just some songs from Teenage Dream.

Adults like the SONGS, kids like the VIDEOS. It's how she maximizes her likability. Is that so hard to grasp?
For example, a kid might not really be into Last Friday Night, but adults understand all the lyrics and get the jokes of the song. By song alone, adults like it but kids aren't too much into it as they don't get it.
However, adding in the video, making it bright, colorful, and funny, it appeals to kids now as well especially with the addition of Glee and Rebecca Black who was everywhere that year.
That's how you maximize your accessibility. You make sure your content is liked by all.
Dark Horse is a song pretty much every adult I knew already liked, but the video being a bit childish and colorful made the younger generation also love the song. It's not really hard to grasp.

So why hasn't artists such as Demi, Justin, and Selena, the people that ATRL like to compare her music to, gotten any top tens there, let alone #1s?

I understand her marketing very well. Actually some Prism tracks are very mature. But ask any non pop fan and they will tell you how childish she seems to them. But you said it, she is the queen of all generations but that means she has some childness inside as well.

Videos wise she is, musically not really at least not with songs like Peacock, Ur So Gay & I Kissed A Girl in her discography.

She has many #1 on the adult charts
She was the #1 artist of the adult format radio (I can't remember the name right now)
She has songs like TOY, E.T., TOTGA, Wide Awake, Dark Horse plus many other album tracks like Circle the drain, who Am I Living for, Spiritual, Ghost...but her music is childish I guess
P.S. What is SO WRONG about childish music, like ok, it's not mature or something but kids deserve to listen to music, too, stop with this ageism-racism

The second half of prism says no, but most of her discography says yes, including her videos.
