To be honest, there's multiple protagonist in the show, I think what you mean is the lead role. Sarah's roles usually end up being lead anyway. Although since I haven't watched Freakshow I can't say. Her role in Season 1 was minor, but it introduced her to the series. I think a starring role just means that she will play a pivotal role and actually be PRESENT on the show, unlike Adam Levine.

For those concerned about Jessica - it had been announced before Freakshow even began that that would be her last season. However, towards the end of Freakshow, she said that she might come back this season, but in a less major role. I hope it's the latter personally.

I hope we get some new music along with all this good press buildup. A releases of Till It Happens to You, the RedOne song for his album, the Giorgio Moroder song for his album, and/or the song with Paul McCartney would be phenomenal.

According to Wikipedia filming for freakshow went from July to November so I think they take breaks or something
