ATRL folk are so damn sensitive. Its completely normal for adults who lost children to refer to them as a gift or a blessing. Thats how they comprehend why "God" would take away children at a young age. They view the child as an "angel" who touched their hearts but they ultimately belonged to God and was never theirs. Thats how they learn to let go and cope with their loss. This is like the dominant viewpoint point of people who have stillborn children or infants who die within days of being born.
I just think it's a disrespectful thing to say about your dead child. It's like saying she wasn't really part of the family, just a friend.
There is nothing in this world more traumatic than losing a child. People have to cope with that. There are plenty of people we can nitpick about their behavior before we start criticizing grieving parents.
Sorry if I'm coming down on you a little hard about this. Maybe your not a parent. But I just think you haven't thought this one through very well.

I think we're talking semantics here. You maybe see a gift as something given to you that you now own. Most parents see their children as gifts they are blessed with. Something you could never imagine the importance of until you experience it. Every thing else suddenly becomes less important and in that sense it is a gift. You may not understand this but describing your child as a gift......it's only a word .... because it's probably impossible to put into words.
