The original arrangement is cohesive though.

I love when artists clearly talk the time to think about the album track list and make sure it flows well and makes a nice, cohesive record.

Lungs for example. Or Waking Up by OneRepublic.

The first half of Red really bothers me. State of Grace, Red and Treacherous all flow so well! It seems so random to then have I Knew You Were Trouble, followed by All Too Well Then to top it off, after the sadness of ATW, 22 just starts bopping.

Exactly! And it gets even worse the rest of the album lol

There's a Stan or two on here who argues the track list makes sense and gets really pressed about people saying the track list makes no sense

But that was the thing to do in the 00s. Hundreds of albums followed that format. Track lists were purposely designed so that the songs that were planned to be released as singles all along were towards the front of the album. Things have changed, as less people buy physical CDs and play tracks in order. With cherry-picking tracks off an album, the dynamic of the track list has changed.

The Red tracklist works for me. The Speak Now tracklist, though.

The way that "Innocent" completely kills the momentum of the latter half of the album.

The fact that "Better Than Revenge" comes after "Enchanted."

The fact that "Ours" and "If This Was A Movie" are bonus tracks.

I like Innocent.

The reason that Better Than Revenge comes after Enchanted is because it's the most upbeat song on the second half and she needed an upbeat after two slower songs, one of which is 5 minutes and the other which is 6 minutes.

You did NOT remove the best song on the album Sad Beautiful Tragic

I'm sorry but as amazing as Red is, as an album it doesn't flow as well as say 1989. It's annoying because certain parts of it flow really well. The beginning (SOG, Red and Treacherous) flows so beautifully, and so does the final third of the album (HG, SBT, TLO, EHC, Starlight and BA). It's the middle parts that's really problematic !

But TTT has such a weird order of songs ..

It's starts with YD1 and then goes into WFL and WHYB and then jumps to TTT . If anything WFL should have started the album ..


UNA has a perfect flow for me .
