There are so many damn ways the SB set could go and I'd be happy with most of them. She'd bring it regardless.
I tend to favour this setlist though (assuming it happened before a new single) because I feel it'd be a fun celebration of her career so far:
Poker Face TMB "muh muh muh" intro in a dark stadium. A single spotlight pulses in time from above, giving the impression that something is "beaming down" from space. She appears. It's very slick couture sci-fi meets classic Fame Gaga. She starts alone but gradually builds an army of dancers. Slowed down, punching end climax like MMA PF.
Paparazzi/TelephoneShe uses a similar speak/sing intro/transition to VMA PF/Pap. She's surrounded by flashing lights. She eventually finds refuge in a red London telephone box and begins Telephone. The paps are joined by suits as they dance around her. It ends with her alone on a dark, empty stage.
Born This WayA piano appears. She brings the place to a standstill with a brief belting breather. It's definitely a moment and counters any "it was all production" comments.
The Edge of GloryTransitions into TEOG. She introduces Bruce Springsteen and takes up her keyboard next to him on guitar as they sing together.
Bad RomanceShe takes the mic and acapella does the intro "oooooh" as the audience joins in. Explodes into song. During the "walk walk" she is surrounded by models wearing her iconic outfits. She does a costume change hidden in the middle. She treats it as an explosive finale.
ApplauseBut wait, there's more. Her encore! It's high energy and infectiously euphoric to close the show. She disappears in a blast of smoke (a la video).
Obviously she'd be shortening the tracks to fit them in, but I think that's key to keep the momentum going anyway.
You include Paparazzi and BTW but not Just Dance aka her second best selling song in USA? Bye
It would be your own damn fault. You're getting your hopes up for something that hasn't even been confirmed.
Well it's the 50th anniversary (actually less than 2 weeks away to the date!), the performance has been described as "magical" and a "very special tribute," she got her hair cut short to look like Queen Julie Andrews, and she's kind of following in line with P!nk's pop star tribute performance last year. There's obviously going to be some tribute to it at some point in the night, it's just a matter of whether or not Gags is the legend who will be in it.
If she serves us some cheap Liza Minelli Cabaret that nobody's going to care about after this "magical" hype.
Since TSOM is one of the Top 5 most influential films of all time, they could also make it a huge performance. Anna Kendrick will do 16 Going on 17, My Favorite Things, or Do Re Mi; Adam Levine (ew) will do Edelweiss; Jennifer Hudson will do Climb Ev'ry Mountain; and Queen will do The Sound of My Contemporaries Crying.
