In her case though, this is absolutely NO SHADE at all as she's said time and time again about how she became the artist she is alongside Lady Starlight.
Her whole schtick seemed to be to embody the idea of a pop artist to a tee. Intense, crazy, nonsensical costumes, repetitive, silly lyrics, slick production, posey dance moves.
She's the definition of a manufactured popstar, but in the best possible way. She came out and was like, "You want a popstar? I'll GIVE you a popstar." It was brilliant. but it was not organic (even if she says that how she dresses is a part of her now).

I agree Lady Gaga is one of the most manufactured tbh.
She was a massive product of the industry when she came out. And thing got out of control when they gave her power.

We don't care if you like Beyonce, it doesn't excuse you from being clocked for saying dumb crap.

You care since you are PERCHED on Britney threads everytime. I KNOW you secretly BOP to Femme Fatale and Britney Jean so drop this "I HATE BRITNEY" act.
Britney Spears is the Princess of Pop for a reason! She is POP CULTURE. She one of the BIGGEST pop stars that has ever LIVED and she will CONTINUE to get hits and make people like YOU salty.

I think she always had the power though. That's how she got where she was. She wasn't a label's dream she was her own.
Things only got out of control because she started to break from the idea of a popstar, whereas someone like Katy is still going very strong because she's held onto it.

Janet and Madonna are probably the first two who really sculpted the image of the sexualized modern female popstar.

Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin, especially, did "Je T'aime...Moi Non Plus" which was a huge uproar over a decade before Madonna even debuted
You're also leaving out names like Cher, Grace Jones, Debbie Harry, etc. who are also very late to mainstream music but still did the sexual acts before Madonna and Janet Jackson. Heck, Marilyn Monroe with Happy Birthday, Mr. President and Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend (which inspired Material Girl's video) did it first, too, and she wasn't even close to being the first.
If we're going to negate Britney's impact because someone did the sexual shtick before her, then we can also negate Madonna's and Janet Jackson's since many women did the sexual shtick before them, too.

Britney has no input. She doesn't even have control over her finances in her 30s.

Gaga ? No it doesn't make sense.
She released ARTPOP against the will of her manager and when he decided not to support this project she fired him Troy could've helped Gaga become bigger than Madge...
Another thing is that Troy and others have always been telling Gaga to dress pretty and she did exactly the opposite ...
She released Born This Way at her peak which btw was as big as Britney's and she was so powerful as a Business woman, an artist etc. that she got the approval of Interscope, Troy etc. when they clearly saw that Born This Way is a huge departure from TF/TFM ...
Gaga is probably the least manufactured artist out of the bigger ones....

Hmm well in the beginning she came out like a moderate version of what we've seen in a few years, so I think that at least she was stopped when she wanted to do too much, which ironically was the perfect point for her. I think she gained more control in BTW and ARTPOP which was her demise. I hope she comes back in her moderate version.

Also I don't think Taylor is manufactured. She's EXTREMELY calculated and I have a hard time believing all the things she does for her fans are 100% genuine but I think she's in control of her career.
Manufactured to me means cookie-cutter, no artistic control, etc.

Because she dropped her image in her second era, imo. Her first era was so clever and a great play on pop culture allusions but she didn't maintain that falsified image very well. In 2011 she basically abandoned her spot as top dog to put her neck out for a cause she believes in by abandoning her perfect image.

Also, if a popstar (which essentially is a singer) cannot actually sing live, then how are they not manufactured? If they have no essential abilities as a singer, then they are just being marketed right, given the right writers and producers, are dressed a certain way, etc. You're not an artist you're an image.

Exactly. The likes of Beyoncé, Sam Smith, Adele, Ariana Grande are all fantastic singers so they cannot really be deemed manufactured in any way possible.
