What Happened To Lady Gaga?
Quote:
Lady Gaga was the biggest pop star in the world. And not just circa 2010. In the post-tabloid, instant-access landscape of the manufactured celebrity figure, there has never been a more rapid rocketing to mega fame than Gaga’s rise about five years ago. (...) What happened?
“Is it because she’s not good anymore?” (...) “Artpop” and that “Cheek To Cheek” cover are not as “good” as her past stuff. (...) Gaga’s appeal was always in the packaging. She emerged as a true performer equipped with her own mythology and symbolism -- the sort of figure that we hadn’t seen since Madonna. That's where the fascination began, and also where it ended.
(..). Madonna has stayed relevant by navigating the tenuous space between the two realms, while Gaga quickly pushed herself over the edge by force-feeding us her artistry in light of her pop stardom. And that's why she's already on her way out, while Madonna is still providing "controversy" to the masses.
For a more recent comparison,(...) in 2014, "Roar" beat out "Applause" as part of Perry's ever-swelling collection of hits. Perry's timeline and approach to stardom make her the ultimate foil for Gaga. Where Gaga steeped herself in meaning and pretension, Perry stands for nothing. Her songs are not anymore about her than they are about the 13-year-old girl in Tulsa who really does feel like a plastic bag. As Rich Juzwiak wrote after her Super Bowl performance, "[It's unclear] Katy Perry has anything to say, any unique perspective, any capacity to challenge or surprise, any persona beyond vaguely goofy and occasionally sentimental."
In looking at all three we see where Madonna and Perry have maintained their fame while Gaga has waned. Perry is a sort of a vessel for the pop-culture machine, where Madonna imbues artistry into the artifice of her persona, but both embrace the manufactured nature of their stardom. (...) Gaga didn't fail because she is inauthentic -- all pop stars are -- but because she refused to embrace the reality of her act. As an icon of the millennial pop, Gaga may never truly be "over," but until she can channel the authentic inauthenticity we see in Perry and Madonna, let's hope she has enough room for that meat dress in her freezer.

What a weird article, praising and shading her at the same time.
But what was the point of bringing in Madonna and Katy?
Like, if these writers want Gaga to be over they kind of need to stop talking about her and making her a relevant topic to a conversation about pop music.

Really cool and interesting. It would've been worth the read had they not published 50 similar articles in the past.

But Madonna at one point of time was hated like Gaga . Especially after the sex book erotica era .. And she seemed to bounce back with her best album Slaytime Stories .
But as of late Gaga has been building herself back up . Winning a Grammy getting priase for her performances and her toned down looks and now getting married ... Gaga is going to make a comback

How is getting married related to one's career? Avril Lavigne and Alicia Keys are married and I don't see their careers bouncing

Lets keep these recycled articles in 2013. We're in 2015 now, Gaga is winning back the GP, getting praised for her happiness over her engagement and how flawless she is looking, adding more Grammys to her shelf thanks to her third consecutive #1 album, working with legends, being praised by legends and asked to tribute legends, specially invited to perform at the Oscars and is in the running of getting an Oscar nomination for her music next year.
Embrace this Reverse Warholian experience y'all. LG5 is coming.

This didn't answer my question? Plus the article is arguing that people don't care about her engagement why would they care about her divorce

I added getting married as a sign that Gaga is doing good . Her getting married is going to be talked about immensely and that is going to rise her back up

When Madonna was 'hated', she'd already had 8 years of success. Not to mention, she was the most talked about celebrity in the media and among the public throughout her erotica era and had an immensely successful and impactful tour with 'The Girlie Show'. At the moment, the general public is indifferent to Gaga - they've either forgotten about her existence or don't care about her.

Who knows, maybe she can root up an old demo, change a lyric to fit her current ordeal and perform it at Grammys to cash in on her divorce from Taylor.

This makes zero sense when everyone is talking about her engagement, has 3M+ likes from her ring photos, has been the most talked about musician and trending on FB in the last four days, was one of the most talked about at the Grammys and had the second most shared / liked Grammy photo and is rising the fastest she has in months on social media.

Like someone said, this has already been said. It's weird how people always make the madonna comparison but never mention the fact that madonna too had a huge decrease in sales and popularity before smashing again.

After the events of the last two weeks, you guys can't keep trying to peddle this lie. Her engagement post is one of the most-liked posts on Facebook, there have been over 1,000 articles written about Gaga's Instagram post announcing her engagement, she's been receiving nothing but praise since the Grammys, and her so-called "transformation" is everywhere on the Internet.
Poor you.

Gaga's debut was beyond huge and it was backed with about 5 years . And in 2013 Gaga was the most talked about celeb I mean we couldn't go a week without major articles about how she flopped and how she fell off . I think the GP is warming back up to Gaga . It's happening
