You know what I hadn't thought of this, I hope they use the story from the series of Mystique throwing him in the river as she was being chased down it'd make since and explain his absence in DOFP

Let me see how I can explain this.

Had Mystique killed the person they were preventing her not to kill the X-men story line would have continued into the original X-men trilogy and would have ended with them being killed by the Sentinels as shown in DOFP.

Her not doing it, basically restarts the whole series. Jean will not die the way she does in X-Men 2. Cyclops will not be murder by Dark Phoenix. Rogue (if they debut her) will not be the same as Anna Paquin's Rogue. Since the series is only using the new cast of X-men and Wolverine (Past Wolverine I am going to assume) everything will be new and separate. Wolverine will not remember Nightcrawler since Future Wolverine is the only one who remembers him and that will not be the Wolverine they are going to use in the continuity. It will probably be the Wolverine who told them to **** off in New Class.

Basically Mystique not being a killer change and reset everything in the canon, which made it a non-canon to the original trilogy.

Plus he is young and there was a gap where Mystique was all by herself in between X-men first class and DOFP. She probably left The Brotherhood with Azazel and had a bit of a romance with him during that time.

Yus. I didn't read the comics at all, but it just makes sense.

I really need to get into the comics in general.

I know Apocalypse takes place when the a lot of the X-Men are younger, but it really bothers me that they have all these little kids playing superheroes. At least get young adults who could pass for younger.
