Now, now, saying you prefer Dr. Pepper over Coke is an opinion.
Saying other people don't deserve human rights based on their sexuality/race/gender is hate speech.
I don't get why racist/sexist/homophobic people post things publicly or online.
Freedom of speech doesn't protect your job from firing you. It's a huge public image issue for the company. They have the right to fire your ass.
As people have already mentioned, if they can't separate their nastiness from work then yes... they should be fired.
Also, their exit interview should be used as an opportunity to educate them. If it makes a difference great, use the knowledge elsewhere... if not, adios you won't be missed.
Boo, marriage is not just signing a few papers here and there. It benefits couples, being against it means you don't want them to have the same rights as straight people.
I suggest you to search a lil bit more in Fox News' site if you need more dumb arguments to fuel your need of posting stuff that will get people heated.

Hate speech is speech that which will likely incite immediate violence or bodily harm, and which carries no other meaning or purpose other than to express hatred for a certain group

This is slightly difficult to answer for me. I mean I understand that if someone is a good worker and they keep their opinions to themselves in the workplace then it shouldn't matter but on the other hand, I feel that if I had to employ someone I would look at what kind of person they are and not just their qualifications. I wouldn't want some crazy hate filled employees representing my company.
I kinda got my manager fired when he was asking other co workers if I was gay. And whenever we were sitting down in the break room he would always try to make me admit that I was gay to him by asking very personal questions. It felt very uncomfortable so I ran to HR with this. A month or so later he was gone.
