BTW was a second album, not a third. Roar was bigger than BTW despite spending less weeks at #1 in the US, Judas went Top 10 and Uncle didn't, Dark Horse was a 4-week #1 and TEoG didn't come CLOSE to its impact, Y&I was a Top 10 and Birthday wasn't, This Is How We Do went Top 25 and MTN didn't. BTW might have ridden off the success of TF/M, but PRISM made its own success. Dark Horse had nothing to do with TD.

Similarities are only there because you're tweaking things to sound like they could be similar.

Katy still had the biggest boost after Bruno but I'd see why you'd continue to want to ignore that.

You're right, the era has just painted her as boring, which the GP will quickly be bored of come the next album cycle. I mean, everyone hails the PRISM era as a rise in her fame, but it only spawned 2 out of 5 singles. She just performed at the superbowl and then the grammys yet couldn't maintain the hype for BTGOG to be a moderate hit. This is just the beginning.
