Radio 1 Official Statement: "We are playing Paul McCartney"
BBC Radio 1 released an official statement this morning regarding the huge backlash triggered by their discriminating decisions against UK music legends like Madonna, Robbie Williams, Take That, Kylie Minogue and others.
Outraged fans and British taxpayers have bombarded BBC Radio1's facebook, twitter, phones and e-mails the last 2 days for not playing Madonna's "Living for Love".
"Radio 1 does not ban anyone – please don’t believe the papers.
The tracks played on Radio 1 are chosen on musical merit and their relevance to our young audience on a case-by-case basis, and whilst around 40% of the country's 15 to 29-year-olds tune into Radio 1 each week, an artist's age is never a factor.
In fact, Paul McCartney currently has two tracks - 'FourFiveSeconds' and 'Only One' - on the Radio 1 playlist."
The fact that Madonna, the most successful female artist the UK has ever seen, even has the power at 56, 33 years after her debut single, to make the BBC release an official statement says it all!
They have been doing this for years now. Didn't they do the same thing with Fergie just a few weeks ago? Her single would've been #1, I believe, if they played it.
