I agree that it should be legal and regulated. Like, I literally don't understand why anyone would be against it, what does two consenting adults making this agreement have to do with you or society at large?
And to anyone who says no, do you ever watch ****? Because that's basically prostitution too
It's not legalized in the modern world to stop human trafficking, which is still a problem.
The lines between if you are forced into prostitution or doing it out of your own free will becomes blurred.
Good point. I used to be in the do what you want with your body camp, but a lecture on human trafficking in my junior year opened my eyes to the many facets of prostitution. Similar to narcotics: how you actually GET the end product is worrisome.
"The government shouldn't tell me what to do with my body"
Ether way, the government is going to be invoked unless they don't regulate it at all, which would be disastrous. The government would have to be more involved than ever if it were legal. Saying the government should back off and then saying it should be regulated by the government is redundant. In any case, I believe this could work if legalized if there is strong enforcement to prevent child trafficking and pimping people out. STD checks should be enforced too so that everyone involved is healthy.
People sell their bodies all the time through **** industries and stripping and why not add in prostitution so long as it is monitored to keep the workers (and clients) healthy and drug/pimp free?
Yes, of course. If it is legalized though, there should be extensive laws that protect them though. Not many politicians would be willing to do that unfortunately.
The majority of prostitutes are pretty ****ed up (abused as a child, drug addiction, too scared to quit, really broke).
These are people who need help.
The people who pay for prostitutes are pretty vile and need educating.
The act of paying for sex should be illegal but we shouldn't prosecute those who sell sex as 99% of the time they need help.
