Their "confirmed sales" include streams which were used to inflate their RIAA single shipment certifications. You'll notice that the average popstar doesn't waste money on the single certifications seeing as only like 20 something artists on there are certified for 5M singles whereas more artists in the U.S. have 5M+ selling songs.
