I swear, it must really be nice having white privilege because just sometimes so baffling how detached some can be from the reality of issues that minorities have to face living in a country that was never built to protect them. You might be "tired" of having to hear our woes because you don't empathize or experience them, but if we don't speak up about the injustices that are marginalizing and literally KILLING our people, nothing changes. And I'm sorry, but I'm not willing to accept that.
The right to my own identity and equal treatment should not depend appeasement to white males, so don't tell me that I need kiss ass and remain silent in order for me to receive the rights that are owed to me as an American citizen.
So no, oppression is not a trendy new Starbucks drink. It's a system of power that our societies were built on at the expense of the lives and well-being of minority populations.
