Beyonce debuted in 1997 still very successful. I know it is easy to compare her to the new generation because she's so young and global, but the reality is she's not on their level.
Beyonce debuted in 1997 while Rihanna (2005), Katy (2008), and Gaga (2008), debuted much later.
Its interesting to note that most artists that debuted in the late 90s (Boyz II Men, Backstreet Boys, Nelly Furtaco,
Britney Spears, Xtina, Usher, Mariah Carey) and artists who were her contemporaries in the early 00s (Alicia Kiis, Jewel, and etc.) are now underperforming greatly, or completely irrelevant to popular music.
JT is the only mainstream singer who debuted in the late 90s who is still slaying with Beyonce.
So when you bring up stats from your fave's current eras and compare them to Beyonce, realize that she has at least 10 years on your fave.
Don't compare Artpop, released by an artist 5 years into their career, to 4, released by an artist
almost 15 years into their career. Just don't.
Beyonce is 18 years into her career and is reaching new artistic and commercial heights. And she just might be slaying your faves along the way!
