Gay marriage doesn't change the fundamental basis of what a marriage is ie two consensual adults in a legal partnership.

I mean can you imagine the messiness simply in the tax bracket as well as if one of them got divorced while two or three of them stayed? as well as the whole legal rights the other parents had to children who were born during the marriage? that's way too messy.

did you even read my entire post? its simply not possible unless you change the actual LEGAL definition of marriage. with gay marriage its just a matter of symantics (ie man/ woman, woman/woman, man/man) with polygamy its an entirely different construct altogether. esprcially from a legal standpoint.

If there was a set definition of marriage there wouldn't be this much dispute about it. What the Supreme Court has said is that marriage is a basic right. Surely that applies to more than two consenting adults as well?

The definition of marriage before was "Between one man and one woman", but if we can change it to "Between one man and another man", why can't we change it to "Between two men and one woman" or something like that? If people want to get married, then let them. It's not up to us to control other people's lives.
