AL is so underrated, though. it's easily in my top 4 madonna albums. the title track, Hollywood, Nothing Fails, and Mother and Father alone >>>
It deserves to be shaded tbh. Most overrated of her albums on ATRL honestly. I like it fine, but it is a far cry from a masterpiece. It just felt like she was trying way too hard to be super political on that album. I stan for Madonna but the only album in her discography worse than AL imo is Hard Candy.
I hate that she abandoned this album too quickly I mean she didn't even perform most of her American Life singles on tour. I feel like she completely forgot about Hollywood, Love Perfusion and so on!
A brave, dark and raw album that was too much for some to digest. M's discography would not be the same without it, i mean the hole disco, hung up, purple dance album would have never had happen without it.
