someone sends me a private message or a wall message when we lands on DAYDREAM/BUTTERFLY/RAINBOW zone I probably won't post for MUSIC BOX even if I love half of the album I think it stole the sales that DAYDREAM and BUTTERFLY should've had.
Emotions is a brilliant solid album. It has hints of Motown, so much soul and probably her best, vocally. the album actually gives me hintos of Aretha which is funny because when she was working with Carole King, she suggested Mariah sing Natural Woman but instead Mariah decided to co-write If It's Over with Carole King.
The title track shows off her ranged perfectly well - anyone that doubts Mariah's singing capabilities hasn't heard Emotions.
Make It Happen is my favourite purely for the inspirational lyrics alone - but the background choir, the funky music, the soaring vocals are just heavenly. It's amazing.
Can't Let Go is beautiful; the vocals, lyrics, arrangement, emotion, the key change = perfection

However after MTV Unplugged unexpectedly took off, it was decided that it would be scrapped and "I'll Be There" would be the next single, and so the music video was never released and to this day lies in hiding with the "Underneath The Stars" and "#Beautiful (Remix)" videos. However a part of the video was used in a Japanese commercial instead. Here are two screen caps:

And You Don't Remember was a good single choice, but the video looks cheap and boring tbh. Not too pressed about it being shelved. Underneath The Stars though : sosad:

That said, I STILL wish till the end of time was a single. You're so cold could have been a radio single.
I just love the buildup in you're so cold before she hits that high note.

The only song I don't really like from this album is Make It Happen, but I admit it has a great message!
The You're So Cold intro has never been matched in her entire discography since - what kind of supernatural vocals!! the closest she's gotten was from the same era with the Emotions remix intro
Also, So Blessed will be my wedding song. Those vocals are so majestic yet so effortless and beautiful
Shoutout to Till The End of Time & Can't Let Go, those two songs have such epic bridges
My mother actually went to school with her older sister.
My grandmother owned a bookstore in a mall in Huntington (sp.)
That said, my mother and her HS friends DID not like her older sister. She was a little loose and into drugs and such.
However, they said Mariah was more reserved (probably because her sister was so wild) and they said she was always writing on a pad of paper...they now believe it was for her music. They said she was just normal.
