What happened here? I know everyone is upset about the AOTY snub right now, and I too disagree with that decision- but, can we take a quick minute to discuss the murder that the academy got AWAY with?
Brandy Clark and her masterpiece, 12 Stories should have walked away with that sparkly little golden gramophone. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate what Miranda Lambert tried to do with Platinum, and I do think it's a good album- cheap, but good. However, 12 Stories is country excellence and has to be one of the best releases I've heard in years. Brandy is a lyrical genius and filled this album with some fantastic, relatable tales and tons of those hard-hitting punchlines that we all expect and love to get from strong female country acts. Her ability to speak on serious issues with such grace, strength, clarity and unnerving self-awareness. Put that together with some classic Dave Brainard production and you have COUNTRY EXCELLENCE at it's best.
Low-key also would have been happy if Dierks Bentley won. hihi
