Well, if I'm not mistaken, Beyonce has general field grammys for Single Ladies (Song of Year or Record of Year, I don't remember) and Pop vocal grammy for Halo. Someone alluded to it earlier, but pop/R&B women rarely win AOTY. The last three female acts to do it were Adele, Taylor, and probably Lauryn Hill, and all three of those albums that won had massive, multiple hit songs.

This is so ****ing stupid, when Bey has won SOTY, Best Female Pop Vocal and other non R&B Grammys. Meanwhile "white person" artists like Bjork, Joe Satriani, Martina McBride and Katy have never won anything. This has nothing to do with race. 10 AOTY winners since 1980 have been black. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE.
OT: This thread has nothing to do with what you are talking about anyway. The fact is Kanye is claiming he fights for creativity and artistry while tearing others art down. He is such a ****ing dumbass idiot with the worst god complex I've ever seen, I can't even comprehend.

Miss me with this generic ass description...even if we're going to take "technical proficiency" literally, "artistic achievement" and "overall excellence in the recording industry" are such vague terms, they could mean so many different things. Basically that mean whatever you want them to mean, or whatever fits the agenda for what you decided is the "album of the year" for that year.

Her awards are like 85% her genre, 15% everywhere else. Don't play dumb. This is the case for Aretha,, Alicia Keys, Whitney and MANY others. Bey is just the straw that's sparking this discussion on a bigger scale (with a Kanye match added).

We're defending basic manners and respect. Its irrelevant what our subjective opinions are on what music is best. Beck is a genuine and longtime respected artist with a history of acclaim. He's not some random nobody that popped up and stole christmas.

Do you not realize how hard it is to win in the General Fields, much less be nominated? Of course most of her awards are genre specific, most artists' are.

I proved what I had to say. If people have any serious responses to this that don't
1) Discredit Kanye (because i see some of you who kissed his ass the past couple of weeks for 45S and his other song suddenly change that tone)
2) Kiss Beck's ass (no way everyone in here is suddenly a Beck stan when none of you made any threads for him prior to today)
3) Act like the Grammy committee is sane and fair (the tea has been clocked for YEARS now so tonight is just more icing on the cake)
then I'll gladly respond in a civil and prompt manner on my wall or pms. Otherwise, I can't be bothered. Ignorance is bliss I've heard.
