Cougar kills a Horse; leaves owner traumatized :weeps:

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. -- The Department of Fish and Wildlife is cautioning Kitsap County residents to bring their animals inside at night after a cougar killed a horse just off Lider Road.
When Elizabeth Lumsden of Port Orchard got up to feed her animals around 5 a.m. on Wednesday, she noticed her Mustang, Tina, was missing from the herd. Lumsden and her husband then got flashlights and started searching for the horse; they saw her lying on a knoll.
"It was just moments. She was right close to the barn," Lumsden said.
Once Lumsden saw the horse was down, that's when fear and panic started to set in.
"As I got closer to her I could tell by the position of her body that she'd suffered trauma," said Lumsden.
Sadly, the horse was dead. "She's my horse I've had the longest - and my baby. It was really traumatizing," said Lumsden.
Lumsden said her horse's neck was broken and torn open. She believes Tina was attacked while trying to protect the rest of the herd.
"There was no signs of struggle by the body and her legs were actually in full running stride so when she was taken down she had to be in a full run," said Lumsden.
Meh, it's just a horse, it's like a more expensive dog. A cougar here ambushed and killed a mother her in front of her children while they were horseback riding

Why am I wrong for sharing some sad news about a horse? Like I'm seriously sad about it. I feel bad for the owner. I could only imagine how I would feel if it was my pet. If this thread was about a donkey no one would say anything about it. Smh
