It might be because I didn't know what Purity Ring was like but going into Shrines I was much more surprised and taken away than I am with Another Eternity.

With that being said, I still think AE is very good.

Shrines remains a better album for me, but they avoided the sophmore slump. They stayed true to their sound while doing something new.

I love this album. I actually really enjoy the contrast between Purity Ring's two albums. Shrines is delicate, precise, and generally quiet. Given the gory lyrical references in a lot of the songs, the album is like the musical equivalent to surgery. Now we have Another Eternity, the lyrics orbit around space, and the music sounds massive. The synths collide with each other with so much power, as if they were planets themselves. They've done a great job not only on this album, but creating a general sound for themselves despite how different their two releases are. Awesome duo.

"Sea Castle", "Heartsigh", and either "Flood on the Floor" or "Stranger Than Earth" are my Top 3 so far. I don't know which I prefer between the last two yet.

Push Pull, Begin Again, Flood on the floor and Stranger Than Earth are all amazing, it's a great album

I really really hope this album is a grower, because currently I'm not much into it at all. I actually agree with those saying it feels lifeless and dull. Besides the singles, only "Stranger Than Earth" really stood out to me. That being said, the two singles were immense growers for me as well, so there's still hope I guess!

The debut album was good, but overly repetitive. They nailed the sound, but a lot of the motives and sounds were overdone. I like that they not only took a new direction with this album, but that each song feels more crafted and fleshed out individually. As a result its not as cohesive as the first album, but overall I feel its a step in the right direction. This album is pretty much perfection and I personally like it better than the first, but I see it getting slammed by critics.

Also I love Dust Hymn, Sea Castle and Repetition more than anything on the first album. Slay me
