It seems the U.S. chain can't even go bankrupt to Canadians' satisfaction
Target underwhelmed Canadian shoppers when it arrived, and it’s exiting to even less fanfare.
The U.S. chain began liquidating its 133 stores across the country Thursday, and shoppers who lined up in wintry weather were less than impressed with what they found inside.
Target had promised price cuts of 30 per cent, but on social media, customers were quick to point out that was only on select items, and some discounts were as small as five per cent.
Target’s departure will leave behind over 17,000 unemployed workers, and about $1.1 billion in real estate and existing leases. Canadian Tire, Loblaws and GoodLife Fitness are among the big-box brands looking to snatch up those spaces.
The deals were so unbelievably terrible, there’s even an entire photo gallery devoted to the abysmal offering.
Looks like everything is "up to 30% off" so in reality most of it is 5-10% off. Target continues failing in Canada, can't even go bankrupt properly
EXACTLY. why would Target give good sales to people who let their stores flop?
they have NOTHING in their stores. The shelves are always half empty
the items are overpriced, we get the same thing in half price at Walmart.
Target failed us, not Canada failed Target.
My own experience: I've been to Target Canada twice to find their exclusive CDs, but there's NONE. the CDs there have higher prices than in HMV, and it's not even Target exclusive. They have so limited choices of stuff to buy too, can't even find good food there. The only good thing about Target Canada is baby clothes, but omg why do I want to buy them?
The US can trash Walmart all you want, but Walmart is still one of the best retailers in Canada. Probably because we don't have trashy obese freaks to ruin Walmart like in the US Even rich citizens can shop at Walmart too. So Canada is like 180 degrees comparing to the US
