Three states in the US allow doctor-assisted suicides. Oregon was the first, and I am fairly certain the other two states are out west as well. I can think of several circumstances where I would take advantage of the services.
P.S. I am strongly opposed to Obamacare as well. I started graduate school at USF in Tampa, FL last fall. My insurance plan through the school costs me $3,707 a year. The previous school year, prior to the implementation of Obamacare, the same plan would have only cost $2,012.
Anytime the government gets involved in a sector of society, prices there increase. This is why both tuition and medical costs greatly exceed the official inflation rate in the US every year. I had to get student loans, because the costs associated with attending graduate school are enormous. I hope to get a scholarship next year, which I would not need to pay back.
