That is ****ed up, at least the father will take care of him, people like that shouldn't be allow to have kids.

I actually disagree with a lot of you. Realize taking care of a DS child is essentially giving up your life. If someone else wants to and can take care of him/her, then that's perfectly ok.

EDIT: Oh, I thought she just started raising the kid and left it If she didn't want to keep them, that's fine. It's hard raising a mentally challenged kid. Even though this may be selfish, many people just aren't strong enough to raise a child like this.

I agree but that's not the correct way to do it.

If you're not willing to step up to the plate, then by all means, gtfo and let the child live a life of love. It's just sad that a woman would be so heartless to abandon not only her innocent newborn but also the supposed love of her life at the first sign of trouble.


Raising a DS child is difficult, no doubt, but it's not impossible and it doesn't mean a life of misery as has been shown on numerous cases.

I'm so so so glad the father has some sense and a heart. Wishing the best for Leo and his father.

I mean, Im not saying its the right thing to do, but after a few life experiences, I understand it. My uncle was diagnosed with schizophrenia and I was visiting him in sanatorium where I encountered people with Down syndrome and sometimes talked to their family members. Many told me that they really tried to take care of their kids/siblings with Down syndrome themselves and everything went fine when they were small, but as they grew up and reached puberty, they became increasingly aggressive and started to physically attack their family members out of frustration and became uncontrollable (I have witnessed several aggressive outbursts too), so Im not sure if I wouldnt do the same, because I really was affraid of them. Judge me if you want to, but if you havent experienced something like this, you have no idea.

Whatever it's for the best, lord knows what she would have done to that child if she has stuck around. He's with his daddy who loves him and will take care of him.

A cousin of mine have DS and his mother gave up her job and life to take care of him. The father works and supports the family. Its a tough choice to make but i'd respect a mother nonetheless who gives up/keep the child.
