If you're not willing to step up to the plate, then by all means, gtfo and let the child live a life of love. It's just sad that a woman would be so heartless to abandon not only her innocent newborn but also the supposed love of her life at the first sign of trouble.
Raising a DS child is difficult, no doubt, but it's not impossible and it doesn't mean a life of misery as has been shown on numerous cases.
