No. Sex is scientific, whereas gender is how you identify personally and emotionally.

I'm under the assumption that sex has to do with someone's genitalia and gender is a social construct of how we categorize people
so no they're not the same imo

No. Sex is biological differences between males and females. Like genitals, hormones etc. Gender is made up by society
