I think YAIL, OOTW, IWYW sound the most 80s, while other songs have some 80s elements (Style, WTNY, TL) but don't have an overall 80s sound. The rest don't sound 80s at all to me

Ngl I was hoping "80s inspired" meant new-wave poppish like Sweeter Than Fiction. I would love a legit new wave (leaning more towards rock tho) album from Her.

A benefit of being in Her imperial phase. She could literally say the album was inspired by Norwegian death metal and no one would dare question it.
If you listen to the instrumentals, the production alone is very 80's on every single track. There are subtle 80's instrumentation happening in every song. So Taylor didn't exactly lie. She made most of the songs contemporary, but she also infused old with the new.
I'm still screaming at Max Martin talking about how he was constantly working to make sure the drums sounded as up-to-date as possible on Her 80s album
