Earlier this month the internet was abuzz with news of a service that would mail an envelope of glitter to your enemy for just one easy payment of $9.99. We read about it on news sites from around the world — big-time legit news sites like USA Today, The Guardian, The Washington Post, Business Insider and News.com.au. Then we got in touch with the individual who founded the company and asked some very important questions.
Well, it turns out that this individual (who maintains he is a 22-year-old named Mat Carpenter) is actually a very sophisticated prankster with extensive experience in online marketing. In an interview with the New York Observer, Mat reveals that not only did he want to troll the internet with a silly idea involving "horrible ****ing glitter" but also expose just how lazy online news media can be.
