Tomb Raider is actually a great example. Lara's design used to be a bit problematic, but the new game sorta fixed that problem. She still has huge breasts and a cleavage bearing top, but it's realistic. But what do they do? They make her suffer. I've never seen any video game character go through so much suffering and abuse as in the new Tomb Raider.
On the one hand, it makes for a great backstory, on the other, there's a long history of making strong female characters suffer needlessly for their strength (at the beginning of the game you get pierced through the side with this iron rod. The same happens to Joel in The Last of Us mid-way through the game. But unlike for Lara, Joel's injury is to progress the story and character. Not so much in Tomb Raider. Lara is left with a wound, but is still expected to keep on fighting).
There are actually problems with the way men are portrayed too.

Off the top of my head; Far Cry, The Krogans from Mass Effect, Pretty much ANY game based on war, Link from The Legend of Zelda. And this is just off the top of my head.
I think people are forgetting that videogames are FANTASY. It's not real. It was never supposed to be real. This is Tipper Gore all over again.
