Other than the weight and type of music, they're not even comparable. Adele and her 28 million selling album and 3 massive hits remain unbothered by those comparisons.
The compliment is undeserved anyway, he has nothing on Adele. And lol at him pulling the Britney Jean by labeling his calculated and clicheed songs "personal"
Being labelled "the male Adele" would make it seem like he has absolutely no originality or artistic integrity and just copied someone who had a successful formula to a fair amount of success...or at least that's how I would take it if someone were to label me the "male Adele" or whoever else. It could be frustrating not being seen as your own artist, but a different version of someone else, so I can see where he's coming from.
But again, I see people just want a reason to not like him so whatever. Keep on keeping on.
