Why do people get married again after their husband/wife have died?

Before they died, they were like "I love them so much, they're my soulmate!"

After their husband/wife died they find someone else and get remarried

Unless your marriage ended on bad terms, am I the only person who thinks it's wrong for people to get married again after your partner has died? I mean, you claimed to have loved the person and had thought they were the one for you, yet it turns out they were indeed replaceable

Obviously this doesn't apply to everyone, but I have noticed this happens a considerable amount of times.

They don't want to be lonely, or need financial security.

No, some people can find love again after significant other has passed over and besides if I were to get married and died and my significant other lived, I would want her to move on and be happy.

Well they need someone to love them still

If I were to die, I'd honestly want them to remarry should they find someone they love enough to do so. Like how selfish is it to say "Well, I got to spend my final moments with someone who I love deeply, but you'll die sad and alone lol *flatlines"?

My husband passed away nearly 3 years ago (I was 26 at the time), are you saying I should remain celibate and lonely for the ~50 years I have left on this earth?

He will always have a special place in my heart and I will always love him, but life must go on.

It really depends... Some really do find love again, some want someone to grow old with and some dont even wanna think about getting married again cause of "what will people say" Just bc you re-marry it doesnt mean you forget or stop loving your former husband you just move on. Thats life

Marriage is only "til death do us part".

Starting a new relationship doesn't mean you didn't love your previous partner, nor does it mean you are replacing them. It's simply a way of moving on and continuing with your life, just because they died doesn't mean you have to 'die' too and aren't allowed to love again.
