It worked for Rihanna with WFL and Diamonds. Probably the only artist that can do it.
UF is big and with the longevity she has, she can reach #1. Spotify and promo is a must tho.

I say the Grammy performance with Spotify the week after, then the video at the end of February. They need to take their time and spread things out so UF can be peaking in sales at least, before they strike.
Ideally, but of course it probably won't end up this way

It worked for Calvin Harris' "Blame" because he managed to secure a spot on Radio 1's A-List before the song was ever heard and so it just exploded on radio, Spotify and iTunes simultaneously. The best they could do for this would've been leave it something like 3 weeks for familiarity to build up.

I've been banned for a while but I have thoughts:
1. I'm still skeptical as to this being the 'first single' from R8, I see it more as like an official leak of Aura from ARTPOP.
2. I don't think this song will have the intended affect that Rihanna, at least definitely her label, was trying to achieve from it
3. It's absolutely brilliant, one of the best songs in her discography, one of the freshest pop songs to come from a mainstream artist in a very long time, and chart positions / sales / ATRL critics can't take that away from it
So very excited for R8, I was completely blown away and taken aback when this was released

This song is on Kanyes album as well, so it's not her official lead. She'll probably release her official first single to her album sometime next month I'm assuming.

Roar wasn't on air on sale. It was released 3 weeks after the rest of the world.

I still think it could be a 'Bow Down' type hype track, but I'm not mad if it's the lead, I actually think it would be brilliant. But Rih could still have something else waiting, we shall see.

I wonder if the second will be a club banger or something more low-key/R&B? I think a Pop and an Urban dual release could be genius for her.

I pray to God Rih will shy away from her typical Pop, Urban and/or Hybrid formula that's been the theme for both TTT and UA.
and I highly doubt there will be any legit 'club bangers' on R8
Maybe stuff that's easily remix-able, but I hope she won't have any PIU's next to tracks like FFS, that would ruin the cohensiveness

I'd rather the lyrical content be thematically cohesive over the production/instrumentals. I wanna see her work with new people (even though I want some bops from her usual go tos)

Maybe the single is a bit dropping now, but I see this returning after a week. I really hope this song is going to be performed at the Grammy's! I want to see the magic live!

Btw because of this song, the Florence collab seems possible!
I can't believe I'm even more excited for R8 than I thought I'd be, I expected to be disappointed tbh and I don't even know why since she rarely disappoints...
