3. Katy Perry - "Teenage Dream"


I listen to the album transition from the end of this PIECE of POP PERFECTION to the cheapish sounding Garage Band intro to "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" [still a good song] and it...frustrates me that Katy Perry might not know how good of a song she's created with this one, like how she thought California Gurls was a suitable answer track to Jay-Z's Empire State of Mind. BUT, no denying she, Luke and the Co. whipped up an immaculate expression of adolescent yearning and uncertainty; the vulnerability of its verses giving way to that defiant monster of its chorus; the contrast between "We can dance until we die" and "We'll be young forever"-- KATY YOU CANT HAVE BOTH AND YOU KNOW IT KAATTYYYY. Like the best Billboard Hot 100 #1 single ever and the level all chart-driven pop music should be shooting for.

2. M83 - "Raconte-Moi Une Histoire"


Genuinely feel bad for people who jump to the conclusion that this song about doing psychedelics. Yeah the essence of childhood + the childhood sense of creativity and limitlessness and optimism is honestly probably less tricky to nail than that of the teenage dream, but it's just that much more of a magical feeling. Turn it up loud enough and...tears. And two notes + some snapping is all you need. So I heard about this frog.

1. Jai Paul - "Jasmine (Demo)"


Not the version off his leaked 'album'! It's been out there for real, on a big-name label, and we have real ways of supporting it with our money. You can see where it walks the line of actual ~demo, but as far as I'm concerned it should best stay how it is now, after we've heard the results of a touch up and how it only made the thing sound less huge.

In my head: Press play. Descend out of my alien spaceship. Race against the clock swinging on vines through the jungle (India?) en route to my princess/trophy/goal/whatever I've been kept away from for too long — sometimes one listen is all it takes to get there, sometimes it's not and we have to press play again.
A.K.A. the reason I'm hung up on this dude's every move when we don't know ANYTHING about his life story, his current whereabouts, what's he been up to musically, if he even exists (?)

- Starting with your The National and Bat For Lashes picks - great songs from artists/bands I still need to get into.
- I Can Change is amazing, I'm still getting into LCD Soundsystem but that album was really really great.
- 23 is addicting and somehow outlasted everything from Bangerz.
- Katy On A Mission (!!!) love this so much.
- #beautiful is, well, beautiful.
- And then my favourite song is between Werewolf and The Wire. Leaning more towards the latter but both are among the best songs of this decade for sure.

#80-61
- Rolling In The Deep is a classic, there's no denying that!
- YES at Video Games. Still her best song, so dramatic but not too dramatic, I'm glad you included that song since I feel like lately people have been writing off Lana too much.
- Heavy Metal Lover and Use Me perf.
- Cold Sweat is the best I've heard from Tinashe (if that's even possible???). UGH
- Repeat Pleasure and Take A Fall For Me again two amazing songs, so glad to see them on your list.
- Feist is my fave from this set, yas at you picking the best song from Metals too!

#60-41
- Solange's TRUE EP is what everyone should aspire to do.
- Charli has been everything for me this past month especially with SUCKER and I'm loving True Romance, nice pick.
- Japandroids
- Nice Sleigh Bells, A$AP and Daft Punk picks too, all great best of decade picks.
- Sleeping Alone does something to me that I can't explain
- 1000 Deaths is hauntingly brilliant.
- SPRAWL II is definitely my favourite and probably in my top 5 for this decade in terms of songs.

#40-21
- LOVE your Real Estate pick, but really you can't go wrong with anything from Atlas!
- Still getting into Teen Dream, but love that song a lot so yay.
-Tough Love, Everything Is Embarrassing, and Take Care are all 10/10.
- We Found Love remains her best single? Maybe Where Have You Been or What's My Name are close but WFL still sounds as euphoric fresh as it did in 2011.
- Hannah Hunt and Ribs - two of the best songs of 2013 especially that pick for Lorde, probably in my top ten for the decade.
- ENCHANTED>>>>>> Obviously my fave from this set, undeniable classic, the other girls wish etc etc.

#20-11
- So Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe is most definitely GOAT.
-Never Catch Me, Pendulum, Thinking' Bout You Does it get any better? 10/10 for all, 11/10 if possible.
- Favourite from this set though? (Nearly impossible given the greatness of the four I mentioned already) CRUEL. St. Vincent's best album and ugh just too good.

#10-4
- Body Party and Oblivion both really great songs too.
- Partition as your Bey pick Good song of course so i'm not mad.
- Lost In The World is my favourite from this set and a brilliant MBDTF pick, but like you can't go wrong with anything from that can you?

Clearly you have one of, if not THE best list of them all
